Executive Summary

The Christian Education Program is designed to educate, equip, and empower the congregation of the Mount Carmel Church spiritually, intellectually, and theologically leading to stronger Christians and
effective Disciple-makers.

Biblical Foundation

“Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”  (2 Timothy 2:15)

Philosophy of Christian Education

The Christian Education ministry of Mt. Carmel is committed to an educational philosophy rooted in the Holy Scriptures, based on sound biblical doctrine, and implemented in response to the mandate given by Christ in Matthew 28:19-20. In identifying our education as Christian we inherently affirm that Christ is central to our instruction. We also affirm that our content, methodology, and expected outcomes will reflect our belief in Christ as the foundation and Christ-like formation as the intended end.

Biblical Principles

The Bible shall be the standard of authority by which all is measured and taught. The Christian Education Program will be based on such core biblical principles as:

  • Jesus Christ , Savior & Lord
  • The Sovereign Triune God
  • Man, the Image of God
  • Baptism in the name of the Father, the Son, & the Holy Spirit
  • The Church as the Body of Christ
  • The Holy Sacraments
  • Christ the Redeemer
  • The Holy Spirit & Salvation
  • Christian Love as the Symbol of our Witness
  • The Imminent Return of Christ

Primary Method of Teaching:

Making Disciples For Christ

Jesus Christ, the revelation of God, commanded the making of disciples; therefore, a truly effective Christian Education Program must have at its core the goal of training and transforming the mind and will of humankind into the mind and will of the Creator in order that conformity to Christ is achieved.  (Romans 8:29)

As a congregation, Christian Education should be at the C.O.R.E. of all that we do:

C – Change {transformation}  (Romans 12:2)

O – Obey  (Acts 5:29)

R – Real {authentic} (Lamentations 3:40)

E – Endure (Matthew 24:13)

Sunday School Ministry

Our Mission: To equip the members of the church through organized study of the Word of God and to enable and empower them as “bibically” informed resources whose faith is securely founded on the truth of God’s Word (II Timothy 2:15).  The Sunday school primarily meets (but is not limited to) Sunday mornings at 9:45 am for one hour with classes provided for every age group of the church population.  All members upon arrival and application for membership are automatically enrolled into the Sunday school program and are initially acquainted with the operation of the church through new member orientation (currently a six-week training curriculum for new members).

Adult Teacher’s Meeting Time: Every Tuesday at 6:00pm.

Youth Teacher’s Meeting Time: Bi-weekly, Tuesdays at 6:00pm.
